About The Editor
Although Emily Rosen’s “work” life seems disparate and unconnected, she insists that the threads are there and form a well focused pattern. After earning three Master’s degrees, appearances might indicate that she deviated from her academic training in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s for about 8 years when she became the co-owner of a very successful singing telegram company, Witty Ditty. “But,” she says, “I did in-depth interviewing about the recipients and customized all the lyrics,” definitely a precursor to her future involvement in memoir writing. After selling that business she has continued writing personal poetry for her current business, Pryme Rhymes, “We write ‘em. You recite ‘em”
She began her career as a copywriter, switched to teaching which led to mental health counseling, while simultaneously freelancing as a feature writer for local and national media.. Her column, Everything’s Coming Up Rosen appears in the Deerfield Beach Observer.
In Florida, as a retiree, she has devoted many volunteer hours to leading therapy and support groups for The FAULK Center For Counseling in Boca Raton, (www.faulkcenterforcounseling.org) where she is a member of the Board of Directors, as well as assisting in the training of clinical volunteers. She is a former Board member of the League of Women Voters Palm Beach County, www.lwvpbc.org devoting time to voter education.
Instructing the writing workshops feeds into her writer/teacher/therapist self
There is also the travel-adventure “part” that began with a trek through the Himalayas in Nepal and has lead her through a variety of other off-the-beaten track outdoor travel experiences.
Emily lives in Boca Raton and has two sons and two grandchildren--exercises and walks daily and still loves to cook.
